Meet the Founders

Spencer Goodfellow
Co-Founder
Spencer Goodfellow holds an MSc in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Bristol and has a diverse background spanning start-ups, the technology sector, and academic research. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Southampton, where his work explores how group theory—the mathematics of symmetry—can be used to improve the efficiency of machine learning algorithms. His research focuses particularly on graph theory and graph neural networks.

Dr. Matthew Pugh
Co-Founder
Dr Matthew Pugh is a machine learning researcher and mechatronic engineer with experience in theoretical machine learning, industrial fault detection, and time series analysis. His doctoral work focused on the applications of category theory for the development of machine learning algorithms.

Dr. Filip Bar
Co-Founder
Dr Filip Bár is an educator, research mathematician and the founder, CEO and Lead Educator of ThinkingBeyond Education — an organisation dedicated to educating the future experts in STEM. He studied mathematics and physics in Tübingen, Munich, and the University of Cambridge, from which he obtained his PhD. His research is in the field of Synthetic Differential Geometry with a focus on the theory and applications of infinitesimal algebra.

Charles Hutchins
Co-Founder
Charles Hutchins holds an MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath and is completing a PhD at the University of Southampton. His research combines machine learning, reinforcement learning and game theory to enhance the security of drone networks, with applications in early threat detection and system-level assurance. He has recently published in the Nature journal Scientific Data and authored several peer-reviewed conference papers in network and hardware security.
